The Reindeer

A plastic reindeer with

chipped silvery paint

Yet proudly

it hangs on the tree

Bearer of so many

sweet Christmas wishes

Bought by a young mom

for her little girl

Hung with hope

on her first Christmas tree

Placed lovingly

year after year

Now both mother and daughter

have silvery hair

Still the little reindeer

Shines on
