“The writers never get it right,” claimed one of the characters in the play I saw tonight (You Have the Right to Remain Dead)- a murder mystery/comedy at a local amateur theater.
Except apparently they did.
The audience was kept laughing most of the time. We could overlook the, shall we say, mature, lady miscast to play a much younger character, the actress who had some kind of distracting eye tic, the very cheesy wardrobe- obviously fake wigs and sideburns, and unreal sound effects. The script was funny, so the audience stayed and had a good time. Amateurs, acting for the love of it, delivered the lines, and the words worked magic.
Words have power in so many different ways. The ability to bring laughter is a super power!
