Waiting

Wait
Wonder
What will the
News be when it
Comes? Good news or bad?

Nerves
Jitters
Tapping feet
Stand up, sit down
Just cannot be still!

Laugh
Or cry
Smile or weep
What will we do
When we get the news?

I must admit that I am not familiar with this kind of poem. I really like the format. Hope it’s good news and you smile.

I enjoyed the structure of your poem and felt you successfully built the tension as the poem unfolded. Structure and patterns are really useful when we work with young poets, so you have added to my list of possibilities with this. Thank for sharing this revelatory poem.

  3. You captured the feeling when we wait and wonder. I feel your impatience with the words, “Just cannot be still.” Hoping for the best and thinking about all the situations where this poem would fit.
