A Lament

Buses just pulled out, walkers have left, and car riders have all been picked up. The sun is shining, and the day is warm. We should be rushing out into our Spring Break. Instead, we will be coming back for two snow day make-up days next week. Boo-hoo!

A few lucky teachers had already made plans, scheduled flights. They will be sitting on the beach or snuggling new grandbabies or sightseeing exotic locales. But we will be here at school with kids who wish they were on break, too. Boo-hoo-hoo!

So sad to have to return when it should be a break. 😦 But at least you still get a few days and it’s not all gone.

  3. Yep. We lost a day of Spring Break as well (and it was originally only a 5 day weekend anyway) Stinks!

I don’t think there is a good solution to making up all of these snow days. We decided to extend our day by an hour and there were many who did not like that. I hope that you get to enjoy the days you do have! Sending warm weather thoughts your way!

This has certainly been one rough winter for many districts. I know that I would hate to have to make the call as to when days will be made up. When we had vacation days that were used as snow make-up days I always told the kids that I would rather make the days up now instead of in June. I never told them that wasn’t the truth (at least for me).

  6. Well that stinks! 😦 But there is the weekend now to enjoy and a short two day week. I know you will make the most of it.

We had a shorter break at Presidents Day time. Hopefully no more snow days. Boo-hoos as okay. Hopefully your spirit of spring returns by the beginning of your actual starting point for the break!

  8. What a bummer! My whole body is craving spring break, I can’t imagine losing any teensy bit of it.

  9. Unfair, unfair! I just finished our week of spring break and it was all to short as it was. Hope the school days go quickly and the rest lingers and feels wonderful.
