Record Breaker

Did you hear the crash? The temperature fell to a new low for this date. The old record had stood for more than 100 years. Yesterday we had a 2-hour delay. Today we did not. Crazy, right?

Of course, it’s the least of the craziness going on around here. The bill to shorten the 12-hour state assessment by 3 1/2 hours was signed into law Monday evening. The testing window opens Wednesday.

From one Hoosier to another – isn’t this testing a mess! Just learned today that different schools are cutting different parts of the test?? I don’t like getting into the middle of politics but I have to agree with – Just let us teach! Good luck next week.

As the testing times increase, the available teaching time decreases. Oddly enough, test scores go down. That must mean we need to increase the amount of testing so everyone is held accountable and improve scores somehow with even less teaching time. Test scores take another nose dive since no one has time to teach what the students need in order to pass the tests – which means testing has to be improved and increased….Soooo – Who thinks of this stuff?

I am all for breaking records although not when it comes to coldest day on record. We have had a few of those here as well. Why can;t we break a record as the warmest day for this time of year?

  4. Sending a prayer for perseverance for weather and weathering the testing storm!
