Sunset at the Lake

Setting sun
Beyond the lake
Beyond the trees

White hot sphere
Sends a shining path
Across the water

Illuminates the flag
Waving proudly
On the other side

A golden halo
Spreads an orange glow
Into the sky above

Beyond the lake
Beyond the trees
Setting sun

So gorgeous – your spare lines are the perfect accompaniment to that photo. There’s something sacred about the close of day … not to mention the flag bathed in last light, in the halo, waving proudly. What might it say, if it could speak…

Oh, thank you. Your poem is gorgeous and your photo is warm. I’m happy that you write.
